Online applications for the CSIR-UGC NET exam are now being accepted by the National Testing Agency.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the online application process for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET (December) Examination 2025. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the designated website, csirnet.nta.nic.in, until October 24, 2025. This examination serves a crucial purpose, as it assesses the eligibility of Indian nationals for various academic positions and opportunities.

The CSIR UGC NET exam is primarily aimed at determining eligibility for the award of the Junior Research Fellowship, as well as appointments as Assistant Professors in Indian universities and colleges. It also facilitates admission into Ph.D. programs, all through a Computer Based Test (CBT) format. The notification provided by the NTA outlines specific details regarding the eligibility criteria, exam pattern, and other essential information that candidates need to be aware of.

For those interested in applying, it is important to note the fee structure associated with the exam. Candidates from the general category are required to pay a fee of Rs 1150. In contrast, applicants categorized under General-EWS/OBC (NCL) are subject to a reduced fee of Rs 600. Additionally, those belonging to SC/ST/PwD/PwBD/Third Gender categories will have a fee of Rs 325. These fees must be paid by the deadline of October 25, 2025, which is the last date for fee payment.

Following the application period, candidates will have a correction window available from October 27 to October 29, 2025. This window allows applicants to make necessary adjustments to their submitted applications, ensuring that all information is accurate and up to date before the examination date.

The CSIR UGC NET examination itself is scheduled to take place on December 18, 2025, with two shifts planned for the day. The first shift will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, while the second shift will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
