The resident noted, “For several years, animals have been brought in for sacrifice, but some people feel uncomfortable about it.”
According to municipal regulations, housing societies are allowed to grant temporary permissions for animal sacrifices in common areas, provided that hygiene, sanitation, and the absence of nearby licensed slaughter facilities are maintained. However, this year, the situation escalated dramatically when members of the Bajrang Dal—a prominent Hindutva organization linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)—were called upon by some residents to intervene in the matter.
As tensions flared, Bajrang Dal leaders arrived at the housing complex around 10 PM, further intensifying the situation.
