Cockroach Janata Party’s Instagram Accounts Hacked Amidst Rising Popularity

Cockroach Janata Party's Instagram Accounts Hacked Amidst Rising Popularity

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), a satirical political movement aimed at the youth, has faced a significant setback after its Instagram account was reportedly hacked. Abhijit Dipke, the founder of this campaign, made the announcement on Saturday, revealing that not only was the CJP’s official account compromised, but his personal Instagram account also fell victim to the hacking.

In a statement shared on social media, Dipke expressed frustration over the loss of access to their platforms, stating, “We currently do not have access to any of our platforms. Any posts made after this should not be considered an official statement from the Cockroach Janata Party.” This alarming development comes shortly after Meta, the parent company of Instagram, took action to remove the campaign’s backup account, further complicating the situation.

The timing of this incident coincides with the campaign’s burgeoning influence, which began just a week prior on May 16. Designed as a voice for the youth, the CJP has rapidly gained traction, amassing a following of 21.7 million on Instagram alone. The movement emerged in response to controversial remarks made by Chief Justice Surya Kant, who drew a stark comparison between unemployed youth and cockroaches, stating, “There are youngsters like cockroaches, who don’t get any employment or have any place in profession.” This comment sparked outrage and motivated Dipke to establish a platform for young people to assert their dignity and voice.

Dipke, a 30-year-old political communications strategist hailing from Pune, has a notable background in public relations and journalism. His previous experience includes working with the Aam Aadmi Party’s social media team, which has equipped him with the skills to effectively engage with the public. The CJP positions itself as a campaign for the youth, advocating for their rights and addressing issues that affect them directly.

In the wake of the hacking incident, the campaign faced additional challenges as its account on X (formerly Twitter) was also withheld in India. Despite these hurdles, Dipke wasted no time in revitalizing the campaign’s presence by launching a new X account, demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity. As the CJP continues to navigate these challenges, it remains to be seen how the movement will adapt and respond to such unexpected obstacles.

As the political landscape in India evolves, movements like the Cockroach Janata Party highlight the growing discontent among youth regarding employment and societal recognition. The campaign’s unique approach to draw attention to these critical issues has resonated widely, showcasing the power of social media as a tool for activism and expression. With the hacking incident raising questions about digital security and the integrity of online platforms, it’s crucial for users and organizations alike to remain vigilant in protecting their digital identities.
