Ghaziabad Stabbing Suspect Killed in Encounter with Police

A tragic incident in Ghaziabad has resulted in the death of a man accused of fatally stabbing a 17-year-old student. The suspect, identified as Asad, was shot during an alleged encounter with law enforcement in the Khoda area, according to police reports.

The victim, Surya Chauhan, a Class 11 student from Navneet Vihar Colony, succumbed to injuries after being attacked on Thursday. His family lodged a complaint, leading authorities to issue a reward of Rs 50,000 for information that could assist in capturing Asad, who had been on the run since the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhawal Jaiswal stated that investigators received intelligence indicating that Asad was planning to flee after meeting with associates to gather funds. In response, police initiated a search operation, establishing checkpoints across Indirapuram and Khoda to apprehend him.

In a dramatic turn of events, police spotted Asad riding a motorcycle alongside an accomplice. When officers attempted to halt the duo, Asad reportedly opened fire, prompting police to return fire. During the exchange, Asad was injured and subsequently transported to a hospital where he later died from his wounds. Authorities confirmed that a police constable was also injured in the shootout, while Asad’s accomplice managed to escape.

The recovery of a pistol and the motorcycle used in the incident was reported by the police, further linking Asad to the violent crime that shook the local community. The police have registered a case against five individuals based on the initial complaint filed by Surya’s family, indicating that the investigation is still ongoing.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combatting youth violence in urban areas of India. As communities mourn the loss of a young life, the authorities are under pressure to ensure safety and maintain law and order, underscoring the need for comprehensive strategies to address youth-related crimes.
