HYDERABAD — The Cyber Crimes Police Station of Hyderabad City has issued a fresh public safety advisory, leveraging the classic imagery of the “Three Wise Monkeys” to educate citizens on combating the rising wave of digital fraud and cybercrimes.
As digital scams grow increasingly sophisticated, law enforcement is urging internet and smartphone users to adapt the traditional principles of “hear no evil, speak no evil, and see no evil” into proactive digital habits.
The Three Golden Rules of Digital Safety
The Hyderabad City Police have mapped the iconic symbol to three critical defence actions every citizen should take:
• “Hear No Evil” ——Don’t Listen to Fake Calls: Fraudsters frequently impersonate bank officials, police officers, or customer care executives to induce panic or compliance. Police advise immediately hanging up on suspicious or intimidating callers.
• “Speak No Evil” ——-Don’t Share Your OTP: One-Time Passwords (OTPs), PINs, passwords, and personal banking credentials must remain strictly confidential. Law enforcement reminds the public that legitimate organizations or banks will never ask for these details.
• “See No Evil” ——— Don’t Open Unknown Links: Clicking unverified links sent via SMS, email, or messaging apps like WhatsApp can instantly expose devices to malware, phishing traps, and severe financial fraud.
How to Report Cyber Fraud
The advisory emphasizes that speed is critical when dealing with financial cybercrimes. If you or someone you know falls victim to an online scam, act and report immediately:
Official Helpline: Call 1930 right away to report ongoing financial cyber fraud.
National Portal: File a formal complaint online at the official National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
