Karnataka Political Developments: Speculation Grows Over Leadership Change After Key Congress Meeting

Bengaluru, May 28 – Political activity intensified in Karnataka on Thursday amid growing speculation over a possible leadership transition within the Congress government.

According to party sources, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held discussions with cabinet colleagues during a breakfast meeting at his official residence, ‘Cauvery,’ in Bengaluru. Reports circulating in political circles suggested that Siddaramaiah may submit his resignation; however, no official confirmation had been issued at the time of reporting.

Sources claimed that discussions were also held regarding Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar potentially taking on a larger leadership role in the state government. However, the Congress party and Raj Bhavan had not made any formal announcement regarding a change in chief ministership.

Following the political developments, supporters of D.K. Shivakumar gathered outside his residence in Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru, where celebrations and slogan-shouting were witnessed. Police personnel were deployed in the area to maintain security and manage the crowd.

Political observers stated that the Congress High Command is closely monitoring the situation and further clarity is expected after consultations with senior party leaders.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah is expected to address the media regarding the ongoing political developments. Official confirmation regarding any resignation or leadership transition is still awaited.
