Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Modi Over CUET Exam Delays, Claims Education System in Crisis

In a recent outburst, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has pointed fingers at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of severely undermining India’s education system. This accusation follows technical issues that caused considerable delays during the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET-UG) held on Saturday.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting the exam, reported that a technical glitch at certain examination centers led to the disruption. The NTA, which manages the admissions process for undergraduate courses in central universities, identified the problem as originating from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the firm overseeing the exam’s digital infrastructure. They later confirmed that the issue had been rectified, assuring that students would still receive full compensatory time, thereby safeguarding their interests.

However, the timing of this incident raises eyebrows, especially as it comes amidst heightened scrutiny surrounding the integrity of various national examinations. Allegations of misconduct have already marred the 2026 National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medical college admissions, as well as examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for government posts. Gandhi’s comments reflect growing concerns over the reliability and fairness of these vital assessments.

“No exam has been conducted with honesty,” Gandhi lamented, emphasizing the larger ramifications of these repeated failures. He remarked on the plight of millions of students, stating, “NEET, CBSE, SSC, and now CUET – four exams affecting one crore children. The generation whose future is being compromised will undoubtedly hold you accountable, Modi.” This statement encapsulates the frustration felt by many students and parents who are increasingly anxious about the stability of the examination system.

The accusations from Gandhi not only highlight a growing frustration among the opposition but also reflect a broader discontent among students across the nation. With critical examinations like CUET acting as gateways to higher education, any disruption can have severe consequences for aspiring students. The ongoing dialogue around examination integrity has ignited a national conversation about the need for reform and greater accountability within the educational framework.
