Telangana continues to experience intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures rising sharply across several districts. According to reports, 22 people across different parts of the state reportedly died due to suspected heatstroke-related conditions on Thursday as extreme temperatures, humidity, and hot winds affected normal life.
The ongoing heatwave has led to reduced public movement during afternoon hours, with roads and marketplaces appearing largely deserted in many areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that temperatures in some districts may cross 46 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
Rural areas are reportedly among the worst affected, particularly agricultural workers, elderly citizens, and economically vulnerable sections who are exposed to prolonged outdoor heat conditions.
Heatwave Forecast for 11 Telangana Districts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that severe heatwave conditions are likely to continue on Friday in several districts of Telangana, including:
- Mancherial
- Peddapalli
- Karimnagar
- Asifabad
- Bhupalpally
- Kothagudem
- Mulugu
- Khammam
- Suryapet
- Nalgonda
- Nagarkurnool
Officials have advised residents to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours unless absolutely necessary.
The weather department also indicated the possibility of isolated rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in districts including Khammam, Kothagudem, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, and Kamareddy.
Red Alert Issued in Multiple Districts
The Meteorological Centre has issued a Red Alert for several districts due to the severe heat conditions. The affected districts include:
- Adilabad
- Asifabad
- Mancherial
- Karimnagar
- Peddapalli
- Bhadradri Kothagudem
- Khammam
- Bhupalpally
- Mulugu
- Nalgonda
- Suryapet
- Nagarkurnool
Medical experts have advised people to avoid going outdoors between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM unless necessary. Citizens are also encouraged to stay hydrated by consuming water, ORS, buttermilk, and coconut water to reduce the risk of dehydration and heatstroke.
