Accused sentenced to 20 years in prison, fined Rs 100,000 in minor rape case

Medak, March 27 District SPD. V. Srinivas Rao IPS said that strict action is being taken against those involved in sexual assault on women and minor children. In a case registered at ToPran Police Station, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 1 lakh. According to the details, Somagari Bhaskar (27), a resident of Jandapalli village in ToPran PS limits, was accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl, against whom the then Sub-Inspector Suresh Kumar registered a case. Later, Circle Inspector Sridhar conducted a thorough investigation and filed a charge sheet with strong evidence. – – While hearing the case, Medak Fast Track Poxo Court Judge R. M. Sabhaoli sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1 lakh and directed that the fine amount be paid as compensation to the victim girl. Special Public Prosecutor M. Balia, Trust Legal Officer Advocate K. Shweta played a key role in the effective prosecution of this case while Sub-Inspector Ganga Rao, District Licensing Officer B. Wahl and other staff worked in unison. The SP said that the police is taking serious steps to provide justice to the victims through speedy investigation in such cases and appealed to the public for cooperation.
