SRINAGAR — Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday held a review meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Education, Health & Medical Education, and Social Welfare Sakina Itoo to assess the progress of the education sector in the Union Territory, officials said.
The meeting focused on key areas including strengthening teacher education institutions, improving school and higher education systems, and enhancing institutional capacity across Jammu and Kashmir.
According to officials, discussions also covered teacher training programmes, skill development initiatives, and measures aimed at improving the overall quality of education. The two leaders reviewed ongoing reforms and initiatives designed to align education outcomes with emerging employment opportunities.
The meeting highlighted the importance of building a more inclusive education ecosystem that supports student learning and employability. Both sides emphasised continued coordination between the Centre and the Union Territory administration to accelerate educational reforms.
Officials said the review also noted positive trends in enrolment and learning outcomes, while stressing the need for sustained efforts to improve infrastructure and training systems in educational institutions.
The discussions reflected a shared focus on expanding access to quality education and enhancing opportunities for youth across Jammu and Kashmir.
