Congress Leader Sonia Gandhi’s Health Deteriorates — Admitted To Sir Ganga Ram Hospital In Delhi
New Delhi, March 25, IPU Media Update News : The health of Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson and Rajya Sabha MP, Sonia Gandhi, suddenly deteriorated on Tuesday night. She was immediately admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. Doctors at the hospital conducted examinations on Sonia Gandhi and are currently monitoring her health condition. Sonia Gandhi, who is currently 79 years old, is undergoing medical tests under the supervision of a prominent chest physician. Doctors have clarified that her health condition remains stable. Two months ago, in January 2026, Sonia Gandhi’s health had also deteriorated significantly; at that time, she was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for six days to receive treatment.
It is reported that 79-year-old Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital complaining of chest pain. She is receiving treatment under the supervision of Dr. Anoop Basu. Along with Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are also present at the hospital. According to the doctors, Sonia Gandhi’s health condition appears to be stable at this time.
A team of chest specialists is conducting examinations on Sonia Gandhi. However, according to information from hospital management and party sources, her condition is currently stable. She has been kept under observation as a precautionary measure. Due to pollution, Sonia Gandhi has been suffering from a persistent cough that has not subsided for some time.
Sonia Gandhi has been hospitalized on previous occasions as well due to health reasons. In June 2025, she was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for a stomach ailment. She was discharged approximately four days later. Since then, her treatment has been continuing at home. Currently, Sonia Gandhi serves as a Rajya Sabha MP and as the Chairperson of the party’s Parliamentary Board.
