Durgapur Minor Assault Case Under Investigation; Organisations Seek Swift Legal Action

DURGAPUR, WEST BENGAL — A case involving the alleged assault of a minor girl in Durgapur has drawn public attention and prompted calls for a thorough investigation and timely legal action.

According to media reports, the victim was allegedly lured away and subjected to abuse. Authorities are investigating the matter, and legal proceedings are being carried out in accordance with applicable laws. Officials have not released further details due to the sensitive nature of the case and legal protections relating to minors.

The incident has generated concern among residents, community groups, and social organisations, with many emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety and protection of women and children.

In response to the case, members of the Vishwa Hindu Raksha Sangathan (VHRS) conducted peaceful demonstrations and submitted representations to authorities seeking a fair and expeditious investigation. The organisation stated that it supports timely legal proceedings and accountability in accordance with the law.

Representatives of the organisation also participated in awareness activities highlighting issues related to women’s and child safety. During these programmes, speakers stressed the importance of community awareness, public vigilance, and adherence to legal processes.

Community leaders and social groups have called for continued efforts to strengthen safeguards for women and children and to ensure that investigations into such cases are conducted transparently and efficiently.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation and allow the investigation to proceed through established legal channels.
