Fire Breaks Out in Hospital Canteen, Brought Under Control

Itanagar, March 14: A fire broke out in the canteen of Heema Hospital on Friday afternoon, triggering panic among hospital staff and visitors. However, the blaze was quickly brought under control by firefighters, preventing a major disaster.

According to officials, the incident occurred at around 4:30 pm when a fire reportedly started in the canteen kitchen, suspected to have been caused by an LPG gas leakage. The flames and smoke prompted an immediate alert to the fire and emergency services.

Personnel from the Arunachal Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and began firefighting operations using hydrant systems installed at the hospital along with equipment from the fire department.

Due to the swift response of firefighters, the blaze was contained before it could spread to other parts of the hospital building. Authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

Officials said the quick containment helped avoid serious damage to the hospital premises and ensured the safety of patients and medical staff present at the time.

Speaking on the incident, Inspector Koj T. Gambo, officer-in-charge of the Itanagar Fire Station, stated that the presence of fire safety systems and the timely intervention of the fire team played a crucial role in bringing the situation under control.

Authorities are expected to review safety protocols and investigate the exact cause of the fire to prevent similar incidents in the future.
