“Fuel Curbs Imposed in Nanded: Collector Acts Tough on Panic Buying and Ensures Supply Monitoring”

Amardeep Dagde | Nanded Correspondent:

🔴 Panic Buying Triggers Administrative Action
Amid rising panic buying of fuel across Nanded district, the administration has stepped in with strict measures to regulate distribution and prevent chaos at petrol pumps. District Collector Rahul Kardile has issued comprehensive guidelines, making it clear that there is no actual shortage of fuel, and that the current situation has been triggered mainly by rumors and unnecessary hoarding by citizens.
⛽ Fuel Purchase Limits and Strict Restrictions
According to the administration, many people have been purchasing fuel beyond their daily requirements, leading to overcrowding at petrol pumps and inconvenience to genuine consumers. To address this, limits have been imposed on fuel purchase, with two-wheelers allowed fuel up to ₹200 for non-gear vehicles and ₹300 for geared vehicles, four-wheelers up to ₹500, and heavy vehicles up to ₹1000. Petrol pump operators have also been strictly instructed not to supply fuel in cans, bottles, or any other containers under any circumstances.
🚓 Crowd Control and Mandatory Guidelines
To control the increasing rush, petrol pumps have been directed to implement crowd management measures, including token systems wherever necessary, with police assistance to maintain order and ensure that fuel is provided based on genuine need. Additionally, all petrol pumps have been made responsible for displaying clear notices stating that fuel stock is limited and that unnecessary services will not be given priority.
🏢 Taluka-Level Monitoring for Essential Supplies
In a parallel move to ensure the smooth distribution of essential commodities, the district administration has established special monitoring teams in every taluka. These teams will function under the leadership of the respective Supply Inspectors and will continuously monitor whether essential goods are being distributed properly and without disruption. Supporting staff have been assigned to assist these teams in their operations.
⚠️ Strict Orders to Officials, No Leave Allowed
The administration has also issued strict instructions to all concerned officials, including Supply Inspectors, warehouse clerks, and warehouse managers, directing them not to leave their headquarters under any circumstances. Furthermore, until further orders, no employee will be granted leave, and even if leave is requested, it must not be approved.
🚨 Warning of Legal Action Against Violators
The Collector has warned that any instance of black marketing, violation of rules, or illegal hoarding will invite stringent action under relevant provisions of the Essential Commodities Act and Disaster Management laws.
🚑 Emergency Services Get Priority Access
At the same time, a dedicated Emergency Lane has been mandated at petrol pumps to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply to essential services such as ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, police units, and municipal service vehicles.
📢 Public Appeal to Maintain Calm
Appealing to the public, the district administration has urged citizens not to believe in rumors, avoid panic buying, and cooperate fully with authorities to maintain smooth and fair distribution of fuel and essential commodities across the district.
