In a remarkable display of skill and sporting excellence, Mr. Vishwakarma Mahto, a student of B.Com (Honours) 6th Semester from Maharaja Srischandra College, has brought pride to his institution and university by securing a Gold Medal at the prestigious All India Inter University Pencak Silat Championship 2025–26.
Representing the University of Calcutta, Mr. Mahto clinched the top position in the highly competitive Ganda event. The championship was held from March 9 to March 13, 2026, at Maharshi Dayanand University, Haryana, and witnessed participation from universities across the country.
Adding to the achievement, the University of Calcutta team delivered an impressive overall performance, securing the 3rd place trophy in the championship.
