Katihar, Bihar State, April 12 – IPU Media Update News: A bus, a lorry, and a pickup van collided in a road accident that claimed the lives of 13 people and left over 30 others injured. The injured have been shifted to hospitals and are currently receiving medical treatment. This incident occurred in the Katihar district of Bihar. The horrific accident took place on Saturday evening around 6:30 PM on National Highway 31, within the Kodha block.
Upon receiving immediate information regarding the accident, the police rushed to the scene. They joined forces with local residents to carry out rescue operations. The injured victims were transported to hospitals, where they are now undergoing treatment. Police suspect that the accident occurred because the bus driver lost control of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep anguish over the accident. He announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 each to those injured in the incident. The Chief Minister also directed officials to ensure that the injured victims receive the best possible medical care.
