Nashik, Maharashtra, April 4, IPU Media Update News : A horrific road accident has occurred in Maharashtra. A car lost control and plunged into a roadside well. In this tragic incident, all 9 occupants of the car lost their lives on the spot. Relatives of the deceased confirmed that all the victims belonged to the same family. The accident took place in the Dindori Taluk of Nashik District. Death struck them as they were returning to their native village after attending a celebratory function in Shivaji Nagar.

★ What Exactly Happened -?

According to the details, Sunil Dattatraya Dargode (34), a resident of the Dindori area in Nashik District, traveled by car to attend a function held in Shivaji Nagar on Friday night. He was accompanied by his wife Reshma Dargode (30), his daughter Rakhi (alias Gunavati Dargode), his sister-in-law Asha Dargode (32), and her children—son Shreyas Dargode and daughter Shrishti Dargode. Since Friday marked the Good Friday holiday, following the function, Reshma Dargode’s nieces Madhuri and Shravani and Asha Dargode’s niece Samruddhi also joined them for the return journey to their village, Indoor.

During the return journey, near the Dindori Taluk headquarters, the car lost control and plunged into a well situated along the roadside. Locals who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the police. Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately and initiated relief operations. With the aid of a crane, they retrieved the car. Inside the vehicle, they found eight bodies. Divers subsequently searched the area and recovered the body of another girl who had been thrown from the car. The bodies were then sent for post-mortem examination.

The police have registered a case regarding the incident and have commenced an investigation. They stated that they are currently inquiring into the causes behind the accident. They further noted that their preliminary investigation revealed Sunil Dattatreya Dargode was driving the car at the time of the mishap. Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the six children who perished in the accident were aged between 7 and 14 years; among them, one was a boy and five were girls.

☛ According to an Eyewitness Account :

Speaking about the horrific accident, an eyewitness and local resident named Praveen Jadhav stated, “It was nighttime, so the driver likely did not anticipate the presence of the well. The car drove straight into it. Since the well contained water, all nine individuals drowned and, unfortunately, lost their lives. This is a truly tragic incident. Our demand is that this well either be permanently filled in or a protective wall be constructed around it.

☛ The Administration Must Wake Up, At Least Now: The Dargode Family :

“This well is situated right in the middle of the road. It lacks any protective wall or warning signage. In the past, accidents have occurred here involving both small and large animals falling into the well. Despite repeated appeals to the authorities, they have neither filled the well nor constructed a protective wall around it. They have failed to even install warning boards. All of this is a direct result of the administration’s negligence. The administration must wake up to this reality, at least now, demanded the Dargode family.

★ Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar Expresses Condolences :

State Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar expressed deep anguish over the accident. In a social media post, she described the tragedy that occurred in Dindori, Nashik district, as deeply heartbreaking and distressing. She stated that the news that nine people, including six children, lost their lives after their car plunged into a well located in a roadside field was profoundly disturbing. She conveyed her heartfelt tributes to all those who lost their lives in this unfortunate accident. She further added that she prays to God to grant eternal peace to their souls and to give the bereaved families the strength to endure this difficult time.
