IGP Traffic Reviews Preparations for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra on Pahalgam Axis

Srinagar, June 6: Inspector General of Police (Traffic), J&K, M. Suleman Choudhary, reviewed traffic arrangements along the Pahalgam axis for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra to assess preparedness for the movement of pilgrims.

During the visit, the IGP Traffic, accompanied by SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Liaqat Ali and other officials, inspected designated parking facilities for Yatra vehicles and reviewed preparations at key traffic regulation points. He also assessed traffic management measures at lanes, market areas, diversion points, vulnerable stretches and other locations along the route.

The officer visited various halting points and examined arrangements related to vehicular regulation and parking management. He directed officials to ensure coordination among all departments involved in Yatra management and to implement traffic-related measures before the commencement of the pilgrimage.

Choudhary instructed officers to prepare detailed deployment plans considering the expected movement of pilgrims, local traffic requirements and emergency response needs. He also called for the identification of potential bottlenecks, installation of signages and barricades where required, and deployment of personnel at sensitive locations.

The IGP emphasized parking management, route diversions and emergency services as key areas of focus during the pilgrimage period. He directed officers to remain prepared and continue monitoring arrangements along the route.
