Bengaluru, June 6: Senior Congress leader and Karnataka minister R. Ramalinga Reddy reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over the portfolio allocated to him in the newly formed Karnataka government and submitted his resignation from the State Cabinet. The issue was subsequently resolved following discussions with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and senior Congress leaders.
According to party sources, Ramalinga Reddy had raised concerns regarding the department assigned to him after the allocation of portfolios in the new Cabinet. Following consultations with the Chief Minister and party leadership, the matter was discussed internally and an understanding was reached.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that the issue had been resolved through discussions and coordination within the party. Ramalinga Reddy also indicated that the matter had been settled and that he would continue to work with the government.
The development comes shortly after the formation of the new Karnataka government under Shivakumar’s leadership. Congress leaders emphasized that the government remains focused on governance, development initiatives, and implementation of public welfare programmes.
The episode also attracted reactions from opposition parties, which commented on the developments within the ruling Congress. However, Congress leaders maintained that the matter had been addressed and that the Cabinet would continue functioning normally.
Political observers note that portfolio allocation often involves internal consultations and negotiations, particularly when senior leaders with extensive administrative experience are involved. Congress leaders have reiterated that party unity and effective governance remain their priorities.
With the issue resolved, the Karnataka government is expected to continue focusing on infrastructure development, welfare schemes, and other key administrative priorities in the state.
