Kalaburagi (Gulbarga), May 23 – A road accident on National Highway-150 near Ladlapur village in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district claimed the lives of five members of the same family early Saturday morning, according to police officials.

The accident occurred in Chittapur taluk when a Cruiser vehicle carrying family members reportedly collided head-on with a lorry coming from the opposite direction. Police said the family was travelling to a hospital after one member reportedly fell critically ill.

Officials identified the deceased as Cashwar, Hussain, Ali, Rasul, and Fatima, all residents of Ingalagi village in Chittapur taluk. Police confirmed that all five victims died at the scene.

The bodies were shifted to a nearby government hospital for postmortem examination. The impact of the collision severely damaged the vehicle.

Kalaburagi Superintendent of Police A. Srinivasulu visited the accident site, and a case has been registered for further investigation. Police officials stated that the exact cause of the accident is being examined, though preliminary suspicion points toward possible overspeeding.
