Mumbai, April 12, IPU Media Update News : Renowned singer Asha Bhosle (92) has breathed her last. She fell ill on Saturday evening. After being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to a chest infection, she passed away today, Sunday. Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed this news. He stated that his mother’s final rites would be performed on Monday evening at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
Born in 1933, Asha Bhosle sang her first song for a Marathi film at the age of ten. Subsequently, for nearly eight decades, she enthralled music lovers with her magnificent voice. In 2023, on the occasion of her 90th birthday, she astonished her fans by performing live for a full three hours at an event in Dubai. Demonstrating unparalleled talent in the world of music, she received numerous honors, including the Padma Vibhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Prominent figures from various fields are expressing their condolences over the passing of Asha Bhosle.

She shared the sweetness of her voice with listeners across diverse genres including Ghazals, Pop, and private albums. In 2008, she received the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian award. In 2011, she earned a place in the Guinness World Records. She received the BBC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002. She won the National Award for Best Playback Singer twice specifically for the films ‘Umrao Jaan’ and ‘Ijaazat’. In total, she has won the Best Singer award seven times. In 2001, she received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
