LPG Shortage Hits Pune: Restaurants Struggle, Demand for Induction Stoves Surges

Pune, March 16, 2026 — A growing LPG shortage in Pune has begun affecting both households and restaurants across the city, forcing many eateries to temporarily alter their operations. With gas cylinder supplies reportedly delayed in several areas, restaurant owners and families are increasingly turning to induction stoves as an alternative for daily cooking.

According to local vendors, the demand for induction cooktops and electric cooking appliances has surged sharply over the past few days as residents try to cope with the supply disruption. Several small restaurants and food stalls have also reported operational challenges due to limited LPG availability.

At the same time, civic authorities have issued a 15-day notice to residents with pending water supply dues, asking them to clear their bills to avoid service interruptions. The combined pressure of LPG shortages and utility notices has added to concerns among citizens.

Officials have assured that efforts are underway to normalize LPG distribution soon. Meanwhile, residents and businesses are being advised to conserve available resources and make temporary adjustments until supply stabilizes.
