Madhur Bhandarkar Blasts Hypocrisy in Star Demands & Dhurandhar The Revenge Set for Solo March 2026 Domination After Toxic Postponement
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has called out the double standards in Bollywood regarding actors’ on-set perks. Speaking candidly at the Red Lorry Film Festival 2026 in Mumbai, he said producers often complain about stars demanding 12-13 vanity vans, yet when a prominent actor signs on, the same producers willingly arrange up to 14 vans without hesitation. He highlighted the lack of unity in the industry, noting that while entourage and luxury costs upset many producers, they themselves enable and fund these demands based on the star’s clout.
In box office news, the anticipated March 2026 mega-clash between Ranveer Singh’s high-octane action sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge (directed by Aditya Dhar) and Yash’s gangster thriller Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups (directed by Geetu Mohandas) has been averted. Toxic, originally slated for March 19 alongside Dhurandhar, has been postponed to June 4, 2026. The delay stems from ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East impacting key GCC markets (as requested by distributors like Phars Films), plus requirements for further VFX polish and audio refinements.
This shift gives Dhurandhar: The Revenge a clear solo run starting March 19 (with previews on March 18), coinciding with festive occasions like Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and ahead of Eid. Advance bookings are already strong, with reports of massive pre-release earnings (over Rs 100 crore in some estimates from early sales and previews). Trade buzz suggests this could boost its opening weekend significantly, potentially by ₹100 crore or more without splitting audiences. Other March releases include smaller films, but Dhurandhar 2 remains the month’s big star vehicle.
