Major Transfers in Assam Forest Department before election :
New Range Officers for Kaziranga :
Dr. Bibhuti Ranjan Gogoi; Bibid Dihingia and Bidyut Bikash Bora promoted to Assistant Conservator of Forest :

March 15, 2026 :

Just before the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam and several other states, the Forest Department of Assam has undergone a major reshuffle. According to departmental order No. ECF.553026/17 signed by Joint Secretary Samiran Bora on 13 March, all Range Officers (ROs) have been transferred, except Bokakhat and Burapahar ranges of Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve.

As per the departmental order Mridupawan Nath, Ranger of the Forest School at Makum, has been transferred to the Central Range of Kaziranga National Park at Kohora under the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division. Dr. Bibhuti Ranjan Gogoi, who was serving in this range, has been promoted to Assistant Conservator of Forests and transferred to Tezpur Forest Division. Jigyas Baruah, Ranger of Dibrugarh Forest Division, has been posted to the Western Range of Kaziranga at Bagori. In turn, Bibid Dihingia, who was serving there, has been promoted to Assistant Conservator of Forests and transferred to Doomdooma Forest Division. Mrigank Das, Ranger of Hailakandi Wildlife Division, has been transferred to the Eastern Range of Kaziranga at Agaratoli. Meanwhile, Bidyut Bikash Bora, who was serving there, has been promoted to Assistant Conservator of Forests and transferred to Golaghat Forest Division.

On the other hand, Priyanku Bhuyan of Guwahati Social Forestry Division has been transferred to Nagaon Wildlife Division. Kaushik Bikash of Jorhat Forest Division has been sent to Dhaniya Range, Nagaon Wildlife Division. Dravida Krishnatrey of Karimganj Forest Division has been sent to deputation to Burhachapori Wildlife Sanctuary, Nagaon. Again, Niharika Gogoi of Lakhimpur Forest Division has been sent to Biswanath Ghat Range, Biswanath Forest Division. Barin Kumar Borah of Dhansiri Forest Division has been transferred to Garhajan Range, Nagaon Forest Division of Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve. According to departmental sources the newly promoted officers from Kaziranga – Dr. Bibhuti Ranjan Gogoi, Bibid Dihingia, and Bidyut Bikash Bora will continue to serve in Kaziranga National Par & Tiger Reserve for the next three months before formally joining their new divisions
