Mamata Banerjee Labels Modi as 'Biggest Infiltrator' Amidst Election Preparations in Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has intensified her criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, branding him the “biggest infiltrator” in the country. This statement came during her address to worshippers post-Eid prayers at Kolkata’s Red Road, as tensions escalate ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Banerjee’s remarks reflect her growing concerns regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its policies, particularly the recent special intensive revision of voter rolls.

During her address, Banerjee expressed her determination to protect the voting rights of the citizens of West Bengal, asserting that she would not allow Modi and his party to undermine these rights. “When you travel abroad, you engage with world leaders and promote friendship, which is commendable. However, upon returning to India, you switch to a divisive narrative that divides Hindus and Muslims, labeling certain individuals as infiltrators,” she pointed out, criticizing the double standards in Modi’s approach.

The Chief Minister continued her attack on the BJP by highlighting how the party has frequently claimed that undocumented immigration is rampant in West Bengal. She countered these allegations by stating, “It is you and your government that are the real infiltrators.” This statement underscores the ongoing political battle between Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the BJP, especially in light of the Assembly elections scheduled for next month.

Banerjee’s comments were not just political; they were also a call for unity among the people of Bengal. As she conveyed her Eid greetings, she encouraged citizens to remain united against what she termed the malicious tactics of the BJP. “Eid Mubarak! May this sacred festival bring joy and peace to every household,” she added, fostering a spirit of togetherness during the festive occasion.

The TMC has been vocal about its opposition to the BJP’s policies, especially concerning issues that affect the populace directly, such as voting rights and immigration. The party’s strategy appears to be aimed at consolidating support among minorities and those who feel threatened by the BJP’s rhetoric.

As the political landscape in West Bengal heats up, Banerjee’s statements serve as a rallying cry to her supporters and a warning to her opponents. With the elections fast approaching, how these narratives will play out remains to be seen, but they undoubtedly set the stage for an intriguing political showdown.
