This Membership Disclaimer governs all individuals and entities applying for, holding, or representing membership with Indian Press Union (IPU), operated under its legal entity IPU Media Association, a Section 8 organization registered in India.
By applying for or accepting membership with IPU, the member acknowledges, understands, and agrees to the terms set out in this Disclaimer.
1. Nature of Membership
Membership with Indian Press Union (IPU) is purely organizational and professional in nature. It is intended to provide access to IPU’s internal programs, initiatives, training, verification systems, and professional networking opportunities.
IPU membership does not:
- Confer any statutory, legal, or governmental authority
- Grant press accreditation issued by the Government of India or any State authority
- Authorize members to represent IPU as official spokespersons
- Provide immunity, privilege, or special rights under law
2. No Government Affiliation
Indian Press Union is an independent, non-governmental, non-political organization. IPU is not affiliated with, recognized by, or acting on behalf of any government department, ministry, law enforcement agency, or regulatory authority.
Any claim, implication, or representation suggesting government backing or authority is strictly prohibited.
3. Use of Membership Credentials
Membership ID cards, certificates, digital profiles, logos, and branding are issued solely for organizational identification purposes.
Members shall not:
- Misuse IPU credentials to threaten, influence, or pressure any individual or authority
- Use IPU name or ID for personal, political, commercial, or unlawful gain
- Represent IPU in legal, administrative, or public matters without written authorization
Any misuse may result in immediate termination and legal action.
4. Independent Actions of Members
All actions, statements, conduct, and professional activities undertaken by members are independent and personal in nature.
IPU shall not be responsible or liable for:
- Acts or omissions of individual members
- Statements made by members in personal or professional capacity
- Legal disputes, complaints, or consequences arising from a member’s conduct
5. Verification & Accuracy of Information
Members are solely responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of information submitted during application and verification.
IPU reserves the right to:
- Verify submitted information at any stage
- Suspend or terminate membership if discrepancies are found
- Update member status without prior notice
6. Suspension, Termination & Disassociation
IPU reserves absolute discretion to suspend, terminate, or publicly disassociate from any member whose conduct:
- Violates IPU policies, Terms & Conditions, or Code of Conduct
- Brings disrepute, legal risk, or reputational harm to IPU
- Involves unethical, illegal, or misleading activities
Termination may occur without refund or compensation.
7. No Legal Liability
IPU shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or legal consequence arising from:
- Reliance on membership credentials
- Actions taken by members or third parties
- Misinterpretation of IPU membership status
Members agree to indemnify and hold IPU harmless against any claims, losses, or legal proceedings arising from their conduct.
8. Modification of Disclaimer
IPU reserves the right to modify or update this Membership Disclaimer at any time. Continued membership after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
This Membership Disclaimer shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of competent courts located in Uttar Pradesh, India.
