22 Palli Sarodotsab Brings the Spirit of Jagannath Dham to Bhowanipur as Puja Enters 82nd Year
Kolkata, September 2026: One of Bhowanipur’s longstanding community Durga Pujas, 22 Palli Sarodotsab, is marking its 82nd year by bringing the architectural and spiritual grandeur of Shri Jagannath Dham, Puri, to Subhas Udyan, Northern Park.
Known for transforming its pandal into representations of India’s iconic places of worship, the Puja has previously drawn inspiration from the Golden Temple in 2019 and Somnath Temple last year. This year’s Jagannath Dham theme continues that heritage-driven journey while offering visitors an immersive festive experience.
The 2026 presentation combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design to recreate the distinctive character of Puri’s sacred landmark in the heart of Kolkata.
The celebrations will also feature a 10,000 sq. ft. covered food court, a vibrant mela, shopping and entertainment, alongside live performances during the Puja.
President Shri Miraj D. Shah said the 82-year journey reflects the Puja’s enduring commitment to community and tradition. Secretary Shri Om Prakash Pandey highlighted the effort to bring devotion, culture and public participation together.
The Jagannath Dham-inspired presentation is being conceptualised and executed by Shri Gautam Bajoria of Black Tiger Events and Shri Naryan Dutta of Shri Krishna Decorators.
After eight decades, 22 Palli Sarodotsab continues to combine faith, heritage and Kolkata’s distinctive festive spirit.
