Hyderabad Police Report Arrests in Kidnapping-for-Ransom Case; Cash and Vehicles Seized

Hyderabad, Telangana: Chikkadpally Police, in coordination with the Commissioner's Task Force, Secunderabad Zone, have reported arrests in an alleged kidnapping-for-ransom case involving a jewellery businessman. According to the police account, investigators recovered ₹1.07 crore in cash, gold and silver items, vehicles and mobile phones during the operation.

Businessman Reported Missing

According to the police, K. Srinivas Rao, a 53-year-old jewellery businessman, was reported missing on October 5, 2026, while travelling to his shop in Ramanthapur. A complaint lodged by his brother-in-law led Chikkadpally Police to register Crime No. 298/2026 initially as a missing-person case.

Police stated that the businessman later reported being forcibly abducted near Golnaka Flyover, blindfolded and held at an undisclosed location. Investigators allege that the kidnappers demanded ₹15 crore from his family and obtained ₹1.30 crore before releasing him. These details are based on the police account and require confirmation through the official case records.

Alleged Motive and Investigation

Police allege that the incident was connected to a dispute arising from a real estate venture in Hemanagar, Boduppal. According to investigators, a conspiracy was allegedly planned in August 2026. The alleged role of each person involved remains subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.

The police account states that the suspects allegedly impersonated police personnel and used vehicles with fake number plates to avoid detection. Authorities have identified Srinivas Reddy and Vikas as absconding suspects and said efforts are continuing to trace them. The exact number of people arrested and the complete list of suspects should be confirmed against the final police release.

Cash, Vehicles and Other Items Seized

According to the police, the seizure included ₹1.07 crore in cash, approximately 97.09 grams of gold, three grams of silver and other gold-coated items. Five vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers, were also listed among the seized property. Police further reported recovering mobile phones. The final inventory and the connection of each item to the case should be confirmed through official seizure records.

Police Officers Involved in the Operation

The police said the operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officers from the Secunderabad Zone and the Commissioner's Task Force. Personnel from Chikkadpally Police Station, the Task Force and other police units participated in the investigation.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar, IPS, reportedly appreciated the officers and staff involved in the operation. The accused are to be produced before the court for further legal proceedings, according to the police statement.

Further Verification

The investigation is continuing to establish the individual roles of the accused, trace the absconding suspects and determine the status of the remaining alleged ransom amount. All allegations should be treated as allegations unless established through the judicial process.
