IAS P. Anwesha Reddy Deputed to Jajpur for Flood Management and Relief Operations

Jajpur, Odisha: IAS officer P. Anwesha Reddy has been deputed by the Government of Odisha to Jajpur district to oversee flood management, relief and restoration operations amid the prevailing flood situation in several parts of the state.

Reddy, who is serving as the Excise Commissioner, has been posted to Jajpur specifically for flood-related duties. She is working alongside senior administrative officers deputed to flood-affected districts, with a focus on monitoring preparedness, relief measures and restoration efforts.

As part of the ongoing response, she is coordinating with the district administration to ensure that essential services reach affected communities. These include evacuation arrangements, relief camps, food supplies, drinking water, healthcare services and security measures.

Several areas of Jajpur district have been affected by rising water levels in the Baitarani, Budha and Salandi rivers. The district administration and response teams are continuing relief and rescue efforts in vulnerable areas.

According to government updates, more than 1.76 lakh people have been evacuated across the affected districts, while 464 relief camps have been established to provide assistance to displaced residents. Jajpur is among the districts affected by the ongoing flood situation, along with Bhadrak and Balasore.

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari and officials from the State Relief Commissioner (SRC) office have been reviewing the flood situation, including through aerial surveys and review meetings. Officers deputed to the affected districts have been directed to remain stationed in their respective areas until further orders to ensure effective monitoring and coordination of relief operations.

The administration continues to monitor the situation closely, with priority being given to the safety of residents, timely evacuation from vulnerable areas and uninterrupted delivery of essential relief services.
