India Issues Strong Warning to Pakistan Over Cross-Border Terrorism

India has issued a strong diplomatic warning to Pakistan, emphasizing that meaningful progress in bilateral relations is only possible if Pakistan takes credible and concrete action against cross-border terrorism. The statement was made by India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) during an official media briefing on 22 September 2026.

According to the MEA, terrorism continues to be one of the biggest challenges affecting peace and stability between the two neighbouring countries. India stated that words and assurances alone are not enough and urged Pakistan to take visible action against terrorist groups operating from its territory.

The warning came after Pakistan made comments regarding a recent international arbitration matter involving India. Responding to those remarks, India reiterated that national security remains a top priority and that any future dialogue must take place in an environment free from terrorism.
