India has delivered approximately 62 tonnes of emergency aid to Nepal as the first international responder following catastrophic flash floods. Operating out of Hindon Air Base, the Indian Air Force (IAF) rapidly mobilised a multi-stage airlift operation to Kathmandu.The mission commenced on Wednesday night with an IAF C-130J Super Hercules flying in a primary 10-tonne consignment consisting of critical medicines, temporary shelters, blankets, solar lamps, and food packets. India subsequently expanded the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission by dispatching a heavy-lift C-17 Globemaster III and a third tactical flight. These subsequent tranches brought heavy equipment—including dewatering pumps, portable generators, and kitchen sets—along alongside dignity kits and water purification tablets.An 11-member Indian team of medical experts, paramedics, and specialized tunnel-rescue personnel was also sent to support local forces. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reaffirmed New Delhi’s full solidarity with its neighbour as rescue teams continue to navigate devastated infrastructure and search for hundreds of individuals still reported missing.
