Mayank Agarwal Joins Durham for Final Four County Championship Matches

India batter Mayank Agarwal has joined Durham for the final stages of the County Championship season and will be available for the club's remaining four matches as they push for promotion back to Division One.

The 35-year-old has represented India in 21 Tests, with his most recent appearance coming in March 2022. He has also played five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for the country.

Agarwal, who had a brief spell with Yorkshire last year, has an impressive first-class record, averaging 43.98. He will replace David Bedingham, who is returning to South Africa to prepare for the country's upcoming Test series against Australia next month.

Durham head coach Ryan Campbell welcomed Agarwal's arrival and praised his record in first-class cricket.

"Mayank is a hugely talented batter who has a superb first-class record, we look forward to him contributing to Durham as we look to secure our return to Division One of the County Championship," Campbell said, according to the club's website.

With four matches remaining, Durham are 40 points clear of both Kent and Northamptonshire. Their next fixture is away against Northamptonshire and is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 10:30 BST.

Agarwal's experience in first-class cricket is expected to provide Durham with additional batting strength as the club enters the final stage of its promotion campaign.
