Bengaluru: Karnataka's draft electoral roll was published on Monday following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), with 4.47 crore electors included in the draft roll and 1.08 crore electors classified under the ASDDO category, covering absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and other cases.

The pre-SIR electoral roll contained 5.54 crore electors. According to data released by the Chief Electoral Officer, 1,07,96,339 electors were classified under the ASDDO category following the enumeration exercise.

The electoral revision process is not yet final. Voters can file claims and objections from August 24 to September 23. Notices, hearings and disposal of claims and objections will continue until October 22, while the final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 27.

The development follows the August 20 announcement that notices would be issued to 43.8 lakh electors whose records were either flagged for anomalies or could not be mapped to earlier electoral-roll data.

The next stage will focus on verification and correction of electoral records. The absence of a name from the draft roll should not by itself be treated as a final deletion, as the claims and objections process remains open.

Voters whose names or details require correction can use the prescribed claims and objections process within the specified period.
