Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve Reopen 2026
Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve officially launched its 2026–27 tourism season as of Saturday, October 3, 2026. Formally inaugurated by Assam Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah at the iconic Kohora Range, the park is once again welcoming nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts to experience its world-renowned biodiversity.
Kaziranga National Park, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as one of the final remaining wilderness frontiers in eastern India entirely undisturbed by human presence. First declared a National Park in 1974, this highly protected sanctuary is defined by a raw, dramatic landscape of dense forests, tall elephant grass, rugged reeds, marshes, and shallow wetland pools.
The reserve is globally celebrated for hosting the world's largest population of the Great Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros.
A Sanctuary of Biodiversity
• The Wildlife: A thriving habitat for iconic mammals, including Royal Bengal Tigers, Asian Elephants, panthers, and sloth bears.
• The Avian Life: A crucial pitstop and home for thousands of migratory and resident birds.
• The Terrain: A unique, untamed mix of floodplains and grasslands shaped by the Brahmaputra River.
