Latur: Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA), Divisional Office, Latur, successfully organized a one-day technical workshop at Bridge Hotel, Latur, for engineers, pump operators, and technical personnel from the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP), Municipal Councils, and Municipal Corporations. The workshop aimed to enhance the energy efficiency of water pumping systems and promote energy conservation in urban water supply schemes.

The workshop was inaugurated by Hon. Rahul Kulkarni (IAS), Municipal Commissioner, Latur Municipal Corporation, through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The inaugural session was attended by Mr. Anand Kulkarni, Divisional General Manager, MEDA; Mr. Dattatray Shendge, Project Executive Officer, MEDA; officers, engineers, and technical staff from the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, Municipal Councils, and Municipal Corporations across the Marathwada region, along with other distinguished guests.

The workshop was organized under the guidance of Hon. Omprakash Bakoria (IAS), Director General, MEDA, and Mr. Arun Anandkar, Additional Director General, MEDA. The primary objective of the programme was to promote energy-efficient management of water supply and pumping systems in urban local bodies, thereby reducing electricity consumption and operational costs.

During the technical sessions, Mr. Kedar Khamitkar, MEDA Authorized Class-A Energy Auditor, delivered an in-depth presentation on municipal energy management, proper planning of connected electrical load, pump efficiency, induction motor loading, power quality, and best practices in energy auditing. His session emphasized practical approaches for improving energy performance and reducing electricity expenditure in municipal water supply systems.

Another technical session was conducted by Mr. Pramod Daspute, Energy Auditor, who explained the selection of appropriately sized pumps, efficient pump operation, methods to improve pumping system performance, and practical energy conservation measures for municipal water supply infrastructure.

The workshop was conducted in an interactive format, with enthusiastic participation from engineers and technical personnel. Detailed discussions were held on the technical challenges associated with municipal water supply systems, strategies for improving energy efficiency, and the adoption of modern engineering practices to reduce operational costs while ensuring sustainable and reliable water supply services.
