Roadside Garbage Dump Raises Health Concerns

Tambaram: A large accumulation of mixed waste along 150, New Tambaram Eastern Bypass Road, near SSM Nagar, has raised concerns among residents and road users over sanitation and environmental conditions in the area.

The photograph from the location shows a substantial quantity of household and other discarded materials piled along the roadside. Plastic covers, food waste, bottles, packaging materials and other refuse can be seen spread across the open area. The presence of waste collectors sorting recyclable materials further highlights the scale of the accumulation.

The garbage is located close to a public road, creating an unpleasant visual appearance and raising concerns about hygiene, foul odour, insects and other sanitation-related problems if the waste remains unattended for an extended period. Open dumping can also affect the surrounding environment, particularly during rainy conditions when waste may be carried into nearby drains or low-lying areas.

Residents and commuters in the locality are likely to benefit from regular waste collection, proper segregation, timely removal of accumulated garbage and improved monitoring of roadside dumping. Local authorities may inspect the site and take appropriate measures to maintain cleanliness and protect public health.
