Swimmer Avi Akshaj Premit Felicitated on National Sports Day

Dhanbad, August 29:

On the occasion of National Sports Day, the Dhanbad District Archery Association organised a felicitation ceremony at Union Club, Dhanbad, to honour athletes from the district who have represented Dhanbad at the national and international levels across various sports.

National-level swimmer Avi Akshaj Premit was specially invited to the ceremony and felicitated by Vijay Jha, President of the Dhanbad District Archery Association. He was honoured with an anga vastra (Shawl) and memento trophy in recognition of his sporting achievements.

Avi has so far participated in three Junior National Aquatic Championships, two SGFI National Championships and one Pentathlon National Championship, representing Dhanbad and Jharkhand at the national level.

He recently represented Jharkhand at the 52nd Junior National Aquatic Championships 2026 held in Bhubaneswar. Earlier, he had won three gold and two silver medals at the 16th Jharkhand State Junior and Sub-Junior Swimming Championship 2026, bringing pride to Dhanbad.

Kanchan Singh, Secretary of the Dhanbad District Swimming Association, also congratulated Avi on receiving the honour and extended his best wishes for his bright and successful sporting future.

The honour received on National Sports Day recognises Avi’s accomplishments, consistent hard work and dedication to the sport of swimming.
