West Bengal Forest Development Department: Woman Raises Concern Over Wood Business Licence Distribution

West Bengal: A woman has raised concerns regarding the distribution and renewal of general licences related to the wood business industry under the Forest Development Department.

According to her complaint, she believes that licences should be distributed according to the applicable seniority criteria and that she should receive priority based on her position in the relevant process. She has questioned how licences are being issued to some applicants who, according to her, may not have priority based on seniority.

The woman has requested the concerned Forest Department authorities, including the Jalpaiguri DFO, to examine her case and consider her claim in accordance with the applicable rules and seniority records.

She has also stated that she has incurred expenses over several years in connection with licence renewal, legal consultations and visits related to the matter. She further said that she is undergoing treatment for cancer and that the financial burden has added to her difficulties.

She has sought an official review of the licence distribution process and requested the authorities to examine whether the applicable rules and seniority criteria were followed in her case.
