Vijayawada Utsav 2.0 and Dasara Celebrations Scheduled for October 2026
VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada is preparing for its annual Dasara Sharannavaratri celebrations and Vijayawada Utsav 2.0, scheduled to take place from October 11 to 20, 2026. The events aim to showcase the city's spiritual significance, cultural heritage and tourism potential.
The city is home to the renowned Sri Kanaka Durga Temple, situated on Indrakeeladri Hill along the Krishna River. The temple attracts large numbers of devotees during the annual Dasara celebrations.
The Dasara Sharannavaratri festivities hold an important place in Andhra Pradesh's religious and cultural traditions. Devotees from different parts of the country visit Vijayawada to offer prayers to Goddess Kanaka Durga.
According to the official tourism information, Vijayawada Utsav 2026 will feature cultural performances, devotional programmes, folk arts, exhibitions and other activities celebrating the region's heritage and traditions.
The National Saras Aajeevika Mela is also scheduled to be held at Punnami Ghat in Vijayawada from October 8 to 22, 2026. The event is expected to provide a marketing platform for self-help groups, rural artisans and entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products.
Andhra Pradesh representatives have also been extending invitations to dignitaries from different states and other public figures to attend the celebrations. Such participation is intended to encourage cultural exchange and bring wider attention to Vijayawada's religious and cultural heritage.
The celebrations are expected to bring together religious activities, cultural performances and exhibitions, highlighting Vijayawada's tourism potential.
