Vaishnavi Karanwal Brings National Recognition to Uttarakhand

Dehradun | Dehradun’s daughter Vaishnavi Karanwal has brought national recognition to Uttarakhand by winning the Miss Earth Eco Warrior India 2026 title and emerging among the Top 8 finalists at Miss Earth India 2026.

Vaishnavi was sashed by Ekta Singh, Miss Earth Divine Beauty India 2025, under Divine Group India, chaired by Mr. Deepak Aggarwal, Founder, and Mrs. Nimisha Saxena, Director – PR & Communications. The pageant jury comprised Komal Choudhary, Miss Earth India 2025; Ekta Singh, Miss Earth Divine Beauty India 2025; and Dipakk Shahi, Founder, TGPC India.

Vaishnavi’s achievement comes against the backdrop of a journey marked by resilience and community leadership. In May 2023, she experienced sudden paralysis due to Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) and was treated at Max Hospital, Dehradun, under neurologist Dr. Nitin Garg.

At the time, Vaishnavi was serving as the Charter President of Rotaract Club Doon Shivalik Hills and was preparing for the District Rotaract Representative’s official club visit, during which the club’s work and reports for the term were to be presented. Due to her sudden medical condition, the scheduled official club visit and the associated event had to be cancelled.

Despite this setback, the work undertaken by the club during her leadership continued to receive recognition at the district level. In July 2023, Vaishnavi received four district-level awards, including Ace Leader President and Best Zonal Club – Zone 7, Uttarakhand, presented by the District Rotaract Representative and his council for the 2022–2023

Vaishnavi is the Charter President of Rotaract Club Doon Shivalik Hills, which was chartered in 2022, and subsequently served as District Secretary – Uttarakhand, Rotaract District 3080 (2024–25).

She currently serves as Rotary Co-Chair for Young Leaders at Rotary Club Doon Shivalik Hills. On July 13, 2026, she was officially inducted as a Rotarian and pinned by DG Rtn. Rita Kalra during the installation ceremony of Rtn. Surendra Petwal, President of Rotary Club Doon Shivalik Hills for 2026–27.

Under Vaishnavi’s leadership, and with the guidance of Rtn. Anita Srivastava, Rotary Chairperson for Young Leaders, Rotaract Club B.S. Negi MPPS Dehradun was also chartered in 2026, taking her continued involvement in youth leadership and community service forward through a second Rotaract club.

Vaishnavi’s environmental advocacy initiative, Threads of Earth, an initiative under Rotaract Club BS Negi focuses on textile upcycling, sustainable fashion and livelihood creation. The initiative seeks to transform textile waste into useful products while creating opportunities for skill development and community livelihoods.

With her national platform, Vaishnavi aims to further connect her work in pageantry, youth leadership, community service and environmental action, carrying forward a message centred on People, Purpose and Planet.
