Why is China Gold International Resources stock rising today?

Investing.com -- China Gold International Resources stock rose 3.3% to HK$263.2 on Thursday after the company announced it will be added as a constituent of two major Hong Kong indexes.

China Gold said it will be added to the Hang Seng High Beta Index and the Hang Seng SCHK Central SOEs Quality Index, with the adjustment set to take effect from Monday, September 7, 2026. Index inclusion events of this nature routinely spark a wave of anticipatory buying, as passive funds and index-tracking vehicles are required to add the stock to their portfolios ahead of the effective date.

The index addition comes on the back of a period of exceptional financial performance. The company reported first-half 2026 revenue of US$914.2 million — up sharply from US$580.4 million in the same period a year earlier — while net income surged to US$512.1 million from US$202.3 million, reflecting the powerful tailwind from elevated gold and copper prices and improved operational efficiency.

The broader Hong Kong market also advanced, with the Hang Seng up 0.3%.
