*NIA Chargesheets Two More in Bihar PFI Conspiracy Case, Total Accused Rises to 20*

New Delhi, Mar 13 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against two more accused in a four-year-old Bihar case linked to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), alleging a conspiracy to disrupt peace and communal harmony through unlawful and anti-national activities.

In Statement issued here to news agenices NIA has chargesheeted two more accused persons in a Bihar case of 2022, relating to a conspiracy by the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) to disrupt peace and religious harmony through unlawful and anti-national activities, it reads.

With the supplementary chargesheet filed on Wednesday before the NIA Special Court, Patna (Bihar), the total number of persons arrested and charged in the case has gone up to 20, it reads.

NIA had found during investigation that Mahboob Alam @ Mahboob Alam Nadvi (President of PFI, Bihar State) and Shamim Akhtar (Vice-President of PFI, Bihar State), who were chargesheeted yesterday under various sections of IPC and UA (P) Act, were actively involved in the conspiracy, it reads.

Statement reads, The entire conspiracy was  aimed at creating an atmosphere of terror and spreading religious enmity, justifying the use of criminal force to promote PFI’s ideology to establish Islamic rule in India, as envisaged in the organisation’s vision document –  “India 2047 Towards Rule of Islam in India, Internal Document: Not for circulation”.

The NIA, which had taken over the case from Bihar Police in July 2022, further found during investigation that Mahboob and Shamim had been engaged in recruitment and training of PFI cadres. Along with the co-accused, they were involved in PFI’s meetings/training programmes held at Ahmad Palace, Phulwarisharif, Patna, Bihar. The local police had seized PFI’s vision document from Ahmad Palace at the time of the registration of the case, it reads. Investigation in the case RC-31/2022/NIA/DLI is continuing.
