Night-Time Garbage Disposal Introduced in South Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Civic authorities in Bengaluru have introduced a night-time garbage disposal system in parts of South Bengaluru to improve waste management and reduce inconvenience caused by missed morning collections.
The initiative, launched by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), allows residents who miss the regular morning garbage pickup to dispose of their household waste at designated collection points during the night.
Officials said the new system aims to address complaints from residents who are unable to hand over waste to collection workers during early morning hours. By providing a night-time option, authorities hope to prevent garbage from piling up on streets and public spaces.
Under the plan, special garbage vehicles and collection teams will operate during the evening and late-night hours in selected areas of South Bengaluru. Residents can bring segregated waste to these collection points for proper disposal.
BBMP officials emphasized that waste segregation at source remains mandatory, and residents are encouraged to separate wet and dry waste before handing it over to sanitation workers.
Authorities believe the initiative will help maintain cleaner neighbourhoods, reduce illegal dumping of garbage, and improve overall waste management in the city. If successful, the system may be expanded to other parts of Bengaluru in the future.
