PM Narendra Modi Performs Bhoomi Pujan for Guwahati–Shillong–Silchar Expressway

Narendra Modi on Sunday performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the Guwahati–Shillong–Silchar Expressway, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic growth across Northeast India.
The proposed expressway will connect the key cities of Guwahati, Shillong, and Silchar, significantly reducing travel time and improving road transportation in the region. Once completed, the expressway is expected to cut down travel time between the cities from nearly eight hours to around five hours, making journeys faster and more efficient for commuters and transport vehicles.
The project is seen as a major step toward strengthening infrastructure in the Northeast, where difficult terrain and limited road networks have long posed challenges to development. Improved connectivity is expected to facilitate smoother movement of goods, reduce logistics costs, and encourage trade and investment in the region.
In addition to economic benefits, the expressway is also expected to promote tourism by making popular destinations in Assam and Meghalaya more accessible to travelers. Officials believe the project will play a key role in accelerating regional development and improving the quality of transportation.
With the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony marking the official start of the project, construction work is expected to begin soon. The expressway is anticipated to become a crucial transportation corridor, enhancing connectivity and supporting long-term growth across Northeast India. 🚧🛣️
