Police bust diesel theft gang in 48 hours: Two arrested, 240 litres of stolen diesel recovered
Within 48 hours, the Anpara police in Sonbhadra district busted a diesel theft gang. Two suspects were arrested and 240 liters of stolen diesel was recovered.On Thursday, under the direction of Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma, as part of the ongoing campaign against crime and criminals, Sub-Inspector Brijesh Kumar Dubey and his team were patrolling the area near Aaudi Mod and checking suspicious persons and vehicles. Meanwhile, they received information from an informant that two men were present near the railway culvert in front of the Durasini Durga Temple, trying to sell stolen diesel.Acting on the information, the police team immediately arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and arrested both accused. Following the accused’s information, a total of 240 liters of stolen diesel, an iron rod, and approximately two meters of plastic pipe were recovered from six plastic jerrycans hidden near acacia bushes.During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had stolen diesel by breaking the tanks of heavy vehicles parked near Bichhri Dharmkanta on the night of March 16/17, 2026. In this regard, on the basis of the recovery in the BNS at Anpara police station, Section 317 (2) of the BNS was added and both the accused were arrested and sent to court for necessary legal proceedings.
