This Refund, Cancellation & Chargeback Policy (“Policy”) is part of and must be read with our Terms & Conditions and other policies. By making any payment on the Indian Press Union (“IPU”, “we”, “us”, “our”) website/portal, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Policy.

1) Scope

This Policy applies to all payments made to IPU, including (but not limited to) membership fees, application fees, processing/verification fees, KYC-related charges, documentation fees, and any service/administrative charges (collectively, “Fees”).

2) General Rule: Fees Are Non-Refundable

All Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, because processing, administrative actions, verification, compliance checks, and system operations may begin immediately after payment.

Refunds are granted only in limited cases listed in this Policy, and only where not prohibited by applicable law.

3) Mandatory KYC (Critical: No KYC on Time = No Refund)

KYC is mandatory for activation/continuation of IPU services.

3.1 KYC Deadline

If you do not complete KYC within the time period shown on the portal, communicated by IPU, or otherwise prescribed (“KYC Deadline”), your application/account may be auto-expired, suspended, or closed.

3.2 No Refund for KYC Non-Completion / Delay

If KYC is not completed on or before the KYC Deadline, NO refund will be issued, including in cases of:

  • user delay / non-cooperation;
  • failure to upload documents on time;
  • uploading unclear/blurred/cropped documents;
  • mismatch in name/DOB/address/photo;
  • failure to respond to re-upload/verification queries within time.

3.3 No Refund for KYC Rejection / Non-Compliance

No refund will be provided where KYC fails or is rejected due to:

  • inaccurate details entered by the user;
  • invalid/expired documents;
  • suspected fraud or forged/third-party documents;
  • any breach of IPU Terms, compliance checks, or verification requirements.

4) When Refunds May Be Considered (Limited Exceptions Only)

A refund may be considered only in the following situations, subject to verification by IPU:

  1. Duplicate Payment: Same Fees paid more than once for the same service due to a payment gateway/bank error (proof required).
  2. Payment Received but Service Not Initiated: IPU confirms that no processing/action was initiated due to an internal technical failure solely attributable to IPU.

Note: “Considered” does not mean “guaranteed.” Refund approval is at IPU’s discretion, except where required by law.

5) Non-Refundable Situations (Strict)

Refunds will not be issued in any of these cases:

  • KYC not completed within time / KYC rejected / user non-cooperation (Section 3).
  • Change of mind, misunderstanding of service, personal reasons, or inability to use services due to user-side issues (device, internet, email/phone access).
  • Incorrect details or wrong uploads by the user.
  • If any part of the service has started, including verification initiation, document review, backend processing, ID creation/printing/dispatch, admin handling, or account activation attempts.
  • Delays or failures caused by third parties (banks, gateways, telecom providers, courier services) or force majeure events.
  • Any violation of IPU Terms, policy misuse, or misconduct (Section 7).

6) Cancellation Policy

Because services often start immediately, cancellations are generally not permitted after payment. Any cancellation request (if entertained) is not guaranteed and will follow this Policy.

7) Misuse, Frivolous Conduct & Termination (No Refund)

IPU may suspend or terminate any account/application without refund if we believe (in our reasonable assessment) there is:

  • false/misleading information or use of forged/third-party documents;
  • repeated frivolous/abusive support requests, spam, harassment, or threats;
  • attempts to bypass verification, manipulate records, or abuse the platform;
  • defamation, unlawful conduct, or breach of Terms & Conditions.

Termination for cause results in immediate discontinuation of services and no refund.

8) Chargebacks / Payment Disputes (Strict)

If you raise a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank/gateway without first contacting IPU, we may:

  • suspend/terminate your account/services;
  • contest the dispute with evidence of processing/usage;
  • block future access until the dispute is resolved.

Where permitted by law, IPU may also recover chargeback penalties, administrative costs, and gateway fees incurred due to unjustified disputes.

9) Refund Request Process (If Eligible)

To request a refund (only if you fall under Section 4), you must email from your registered email ID within 7 days of payment:

Include:

  • Full name, registered mobile/email
  • Transaction ID, date, amount, payment mode
  • Screenshot/receipt
  • Reason and supporting proof

IPU may ask for additional verification to prevent fraud.

10) Refund Mode & Timelines (If Approved)

Approved refunds (if any) will be made only to the original payment method. Processing typically takes 7–14 business days, subject to bank/gateway timelines.

Where permitted by law, payment gateway charges, taxes, and administrative deductions may be adjusted/refunded according to actual remittance rules.

11) Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, IPU’s total liability related to any payment/service shall be limited to the amount actually paid for the specific disputed service. IPU shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

12) Policy Updates

We may update this Policy at any time by posting an updated version on our website/portal. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised Policy.

13) Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts at [Your City, State], subject to applicable law.
