Six Candidates File Nominations for Bokakhat Constituency: AGP-BJP Candidate Atul Bora Accompanied by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma During Nomination Filing :

On the final day for filing nomination papers for the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections, six candidates submitted their nominations for Constituency No. 105, Bokakhat. Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) President Atul Bora filed his nomination today at the Golaghat district headquarters before Returning Officer Shivani Jarnagal, accompanied by thousands of supporters. As the alliance candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Atul Bora was joined at the time of filing by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
It is noteworthy that in this important constituency, Congress, Raijor Dal, and Assam Jatiya Parishad jointly fielded Hariprasad Saikia as their candidate. Independent candidates Pranab Doley and Hemanta Doley also filed nominations, while Vivekananda Rajowar submitted his papers on behalf of the Gondwana Ganatantra Party. Former MLA Jiten Gogoi had already filed his nomination as an independent candidate on March 19. Thus, a total of six candidates will contest in Bokakhat constituency, three of whom are independents, making the electoral battle potentially very competitive.
The Election Commission has announced that nomination papers will be scrutinised on March 24, with the last date for withdrawal being March 26. Voting across Assam will take place in a single phase on April 9, and counting will be held on May 4. According to the final voter list published by the Election Commission, Bokakhat constituency has 164,648 registered voters who will cast their votes across 213 polling stations. Among them are 79,952 male voters, 84,695 female voters, and one voter from the third gender category.
