Special Nature Walk Trekking by Students of Chandra Nath Bezbaruah College, Bokakhat to Study Forest Biodiversity
Bokakhat, March 30, 2026:
Chandra Nath Bezbaruah College, one of the leading educational institutions in Bokakhat, Assam, organized a special awareness programme today under the initiative of the National Service Scheme (NSS). With the cooperation of the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve authorities, a special trekking programme named Nature Walk was arranged this morning for college students in the Panbari Reserved Forest area under the Bokakhat Forest Range.
Led by Bokakhat Forest Range Officer Himangshu Gogoi, along with forest staff member Lakhimi Bora and women forest guards, the trekking programme introduced the students to Panbari’s rich biodiversity. Dr. Phalgun Chetia and environmental activist Uttam Saikia also participated in the programme and guided the students in observing butterflies, birds, hoolock gibbons, elephants, capped langurs, orchids, and various plant species found in the Panbari forest.
Range Officer Himangshu Gogoi further explained the management of the Panbari forest and the importance of animal corridors. The overall planning of the programme was coordinated by Vidyut Baruah, NSS Programme Officer of the college.
Despite adverse weather conditions, the students enthusiastically took part in the special nature walk and gained knowledge about the biodiversity of the Panbari forest.
