Temple Land Protected from Illegal Dumping; Public Urged Not to Believe Unverified Claims

Hyderabad, June 2026: Land belonging to Sri Kalika Devi Mandir, Kalika Bagh, Uppuguda, situated under Survey Nos. 24, 25 and 26 at Bhaiyyalal Nagar, Uppuguda, had for several years reportedly been used for dumping debris, construction waste and garbage. Local residents had raised concerns regarding sanitation issues and the condition of the temple land.

According to local residents and temple representatives, the dumping created environmental and public health concerns for people living in Bhaiyyalal Nagar and surrounding areas.

To safeguard the property and prevent further misuse, Shri Sumit Malhar Puntambekar, a member of the Founder Family of Sri Kalika Devi Mandir, initiated the construction of a compound wall and installation of gates around the land. Temple representatives stated that the work was funded by the Puntambekar Family and carried out with support from the Endowments Department.

The Founder Family entrusted the construction work to local contractor and political leader Cement Seenu, who, along with his team, completed the project aimed at protecting the temple property.

Residents have welcomed the development, stating that it has improved sanitation conditions and helped prevent further dumping of waste on the land.

Clarification Regarding Rumours

Certain claims have circulated suggesting that the temple land may be used for private plotting or sale. According to temple representatives and available records, the land forms part of temple property and is included in the Prohibited List, which restricts transfer or alienation without due legal process.

Temple representatives stated that the compound wall was constructed solely to protect the land from dumping and potential encroachment concerns. No official information has been made available to substantiate claims regarding private sale or commercial development of the property.

Public Advisory

Citizens are encouraged to verify information through relevant authorities and avoid spreading unverified claims. Community participation in preserving and protecting religious and heritage properties is important for future generations.
