Thailand Rolls Out New Travel Advantages for Indian Tourists While Reviewing Entry Rules

Thailand is once again capturing the attention of Indian travellers by introducing more relaxed entry norms, even as authorities reassess long-term travel regulations to maintain better control.

In a major tourism-friendly step, Thailand has allowed Indian citizens to enter without a visa for stays of up to 60 days, a notable increase from previous short-term entry options. Travellers also have the flexibility to extend their visit by an additional month, making longer vacations and slow travel more practical than before.

This move is part of Thailand’s broader strategy to attract high-value tourists from India, a market that has shown rapid growth over the past few years. With millions of Indian visitors choosing Thailand annually, the country is focusing on making travel smoother, faster, and more appealing.

Simplified Travel Experience

The updated entry system reduces the need for pre-travel approvals and paperwork. Indian visitors are now expected to complete a digital arrival form before departure and carry basic documents such as return tickets and accommodation proof. This shift has significantly improved the arrival experience at major Thai airports, cutting down processing time.

At the same time, increased flight connectivity between Indian cities and popular Thai destinations has made quick international getaways more convenient. Budget airlines and travel packages are also contributing to a steady rise in bookings.

Focus on Safety and Monitoring

While Thailand is easing entry, it is also strengthening monitoring measures. Health checks and precautionary screenings have been introduced for certain international arrivals to ensure public safety and maintain confidence among tourists.

Authorities are also paying closer attention to how long visitors stay and whether travel rules are being followed properly.

Possible Tightening of Stay Duration

Despite the current relaxed approach, Thai officials are reportedly evaluating whether the extended visa-free duration should be reduced in the future. Concerns around misuse of long stays and unauthorized activities have prompted discussions about possibly bringing the limit back to shorter durations.

If such changes are introduced, travellers may still have options to extend their stay, but with more structured guidelines.

What Travellers Should Know

At present, Indian tourists can take advantage of:
• Extended visa-free travel duration
• Easier entry procedures
• Better connectivity and competitive travel deals

However, with policy reviews underway, staying updated on official announcements will be important for those planning trips later in the year.

Outlook

Thailand’s approach highlights a careful balance while making travel easier to attract more visitors while ensuring regulations are not compromised. For Indian travellers, this creates an ideal window to explore the destination with greater flexibility and fewer restrictions.
